The 54th European Association for the Study of Diabetes will be held in Berlin from the 1st – 5th of October 2018.
The European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) is a non-profit, medical scientific association. The association was founded in 1965. EASD headquarter is based in Duesseldorf, Germany. The aims of the Association are to encourage and support research in the field of diabetes, the rapid diffusion of acquired knowledge and to facilitate its application. EASD is one of the largest networks for diabetologists worldwide with more than 5,000 active members from over 100 countries. Each year EASD holds its annual meeting in a different European city with over 15,000 delegates from more than 130 countries which are attending.
Berlin offers a divers variety for events, congresses and meetings of any kind and size. Its well-connected infrastructure with several airports, as well as highly-developed train-systems and highways contributes to Berlin being one of the top congress destinations worldwide. The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranked Berlin the 4th best worldwide congress destination (176 international held congresses in 2016). Only the following cities are ranked higher than Berlin: Paris number 1 (196 International Congresses), Vienna number 2 (186 International Congresses) and Barcelona number 3 (181 International Congresses).
